Irregular Discharges from Psychiatric Wards

Abstract

|
The high rate of irregular discharge from psychiatric wards, so far reported in this country, calls for attention. For the better understanding of the irregular discharge, this review of articles describes the frequency, the characteristics of both the so discharged patients and their psychiatrists, the dynamics of such discharge and the prognosis of the patients. Finally, author presents various recommendations of the reviewed papers which could be of use in reducing the rate of irregular discharge.
